Patsy C. Gunther, age 80, of Greenfield, Indiana, passed away peacefully early on Thursday, March 14th, 2024.
Patsy was born on Sunday, September 5, 1943, in Ikes Fork, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Sampy and Gertrude (Blankenship) Lester. Patsy graduated from high school in 1961, and in June of 1965, she married the love of her life, James E. Gunther, after he returned from Vietnam. God blessed Patsy and James with 54 years of marriage until James passed away on April 30, 2020. Patsy loved good old traditional gospel music. Patsy enjoyed her Mexican food and would fight someone over her tapioca pudding. Being quite the jokester, she could put a smile on your face, and she never met a stranger. Patsy enjoyed gardening. If you were fortunate enough to know and love Patsy, you knew she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and could get feisty from time to time. Patsy was the queen of the family, a mother to all. Being one of twelve children growing up in a tiny two-room home, Patsy learned early on to be a loving, giving person. She absolutely was. She made sure nobody went without. She would give anything to anyone in need. She fiercely loved her family and spoiled them every Christmas. Patsy was a gem, one of a kind, and she will be missed beyond words. Patsy is survived by her only child, daughter, Kim (Kay Eads) Gunther, grandchildren; Kayleigh Mejia, Gary (Samantha) Creed, James Creed, Granite Creed, Victoria (Paul) Rusticus, Victor (Kelli) Acuna, great grandchildren; Jaeden Mejia, Laila Acuna, and Gauge Acuna, siblings; Joyce Gibson, Dolly (Bill) Scheele, Sharon (Shane) Pierce, Sampy Lester, Eugene Lester, Beatrice (Larry) Riffe, Jeffrey (Mary) Lester, and Phillip (Trina) Lester. In addition to her parents and husband, Patsy is preceded in death by her brothers, Ronald and Donald Lester, and her sister, Nina Lester.
***The family would like to extend a special thank you to Patsy’s hospice nurse, Rhonda, and Wanda, chaplain of Luminary Hospice. “Thank you for being a shining light in our time of darkness; the love you showed Mom is beyond a blessing.”***
