Archie Swisher, the sweet 1-year-old Dachshund boy of Michael and Abigail Swisher, of Greenfield, Indiana, unexpectedly passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Friday evening, January 30, 2026. Archie was the sweetest Christmas gift, being born on December 25 of 2024. Abigail shared, “He never lost his Christmas joy, as he was always excited as if every day was Christmas.”
He was born in Newberry, Indiana, and joined his new family at 12 weeks old. According to Abigail, he was purchased from “a sweet Amish family,” and they immediately fell in love with Archie because “he loved like no other. He was always so excited to see us, even if we just walked away for two minutes and came right back.”
Abigail shared her favorite memories of Archie: “Him attacking water I’d spray at home and him chasing a laser or watching him play with our goats.”
Archie was blessed with being a part of a family who absolutely adored him. According to Abigail, “Archie’s personality was unmatched. He was the happiest boy. So full of life, he loved his human family and our other dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, and even our goats. He loved life and everything in it! Every fiber of him was pure unconditional love.”
Archie wasn’t a picky boy when it came to food. Abigail shared, “He loved when his human siblings would slip him some of their dinner and loved when he got a wet food treat slipped into his food!”
Archie absolutely did not like being groomed or bath time. Abigail shared, “While getting dirty was a lot of fun for him, bathing and getting his nails trimmed were not. He would try to escape a bath and would run and hide if he saw the nail clippers.”
“Archie didn’t have a favorite toy; he was just happy to play with us or the other dogs and goats!”
Archie loved going on car rides. Abigail relayed, “Archie was happy in the car, on the mower, on the side-by-side, or anywhere his people were!”
The family often called him “Archie Boy” or “Archibald” as a nickname.
Archie had the biggest, purest heart. Abigail explained that what Archie valued most in his life was, “Without a doubt, he valued his family most. His favorite part of every day was jumping up and licking our faces with zero shame about how awful his breath was.”
According to Abigail, Archie loved the entire family, but “Archie was Meiyah’s boy! He loved us all, but he knew that was his mama. She took care of him, and while her heart is broken, she knows Jesus will care for him, and they will meet again in Heaven.”
Archie brought so much joy and happiness to the entire family; Abigail shared, “Everything about Archie boy was unusual and hilarious. He wasn’t like any other dog. He was so mischievous and rotten, but we loved it. He would literally chase the wind,” Abigail continued. “We love you, Archie Boy. Just as much as you loved us, forever and unconditionally. Life around here will feel like something is missing, forever. You were such a good boy. What we’d give to have just one more moment with you.”
In addition to Abigail and Michael, Archie will be missed immensely by his human mama, Meiyah; his human siblings, Naomi, Kaimon, Lydia, and Stella; and his dog siblings, Rip, Boaz, Penelope, Opal, and Winston, as well as his pals, the cats and goats.
