Axel Froman Obituary

Axel Froman, beautiful German Shepherd boy of Chris and Rachel Froman of Kennard, Indiana, passed peacefully over the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, January 19, 2026.

Axel was born in Tennessee but found his way in need of a home and was placed at rescue facility in Anderson Indiana called Stonegate Farm's K-9 Crew and luckily he was found his forever home when he was adopted by the Froman family.

Rachel shared her favorite memory of Axel “the day that we brought him home. He was already 6 and had lived his whole life inside with a middle aged couple. He just came into a house with 4 small kids and he trotted right up to me (after sitting down for dinner) and pulled a piece of cheese pizza right off my plate. He took no time making himself at home.”

Axel absolutely hated bath time. Rachel shared, “He always gave a good judgmental stare if you told him it was time for a bath. He’d begrudgingly cooperate— but he wasn’t going to like it.”

Rachel shared how Axel loved to play “Hands down his favorite toy was a ball. It didn’t matter what size. He didn’t discriminate. That ball could be as big as he was and he’d still chase it but his favorite game of all time was tug. He could play tug of war until his legs gave out.”

Axel loved going on car rides with his family. He didn’t care where they were going, as long as he was with his family on the go he was happy.

Axel was a gentle soul. According to Rachel “Axel didn’t have a mean bone in his body. He also had no concept of his size. He really thought he was the same size as our corgi. That included when trying to sit on people’s laps on the couch”

Although he was a gentle boy,  kept a watchful eye over his human siblings, Rachel shared “He was fiercely protective of his kids. At night he would lay down between the kids' bedrooms and watch them while they slept. In his older years he’d put himself to “bed” at the same time as the kids every night”

Axel was loved so very much and he will be forever missed but never forgotten. In addition to Rachel and Chris mourning the loss of sweet Axel are his human siblings, Sawyer RaeLynn, Liam and Ezra. and fcat siblings, Hedwig and Toothless and one pup sibling Severus— who according to Rachel “he tolerated at best”
