Baxter Mounce, the handsome, sweet, West Highland Terrier-Jack Russell boy of Amanda Mounce and Jake Williams of Greenfield, Indiana, passed over the Rainbow Bridge in the early morning hours on Friday, April 3, 2026.
Baxter was born on Saturday, June 30, 2012, in Bloomington, Indiana, and that’s where he was adopted by Amanda. He would have celebrated his 14th birthday this June. Amanda described Baxter’s personality as “friendly and spunky; he loved running, barking, and giving kisses.”
What she loved the most about Baxter was how “he loved every person and animal he came in contact with."
Amanda relayed that there was absolutely nothing Baxter wouldn’t eat. He loved cherry tomatoes and cheese.”
Baxter’s favorite toy was any toy with a squeaker. Amanda shared, “He made it his goal to get the squeaker out.”
Baxter absolutely did not like taking a bath, according to Amanda; “his least favorite thing ever was being groomed or bathed. He would put up a fight every time, but Baxter loved going bye-bye! He enjoyed riding in the car and riding in the family’s boat.
What he seemed to value doing the most was sitting on the back of the couch, looking out of the window and barking.
Some of Amanda's favorite memories of Baxter were taking him boating, and she recalled it was always funny watching him chase the big dogs, his brothers, around the yard.
Baxter loved Amanda so much, but he had a special bond with his human dad, Jake, and grandmother, Evelyn.
Baxter, who was also lovingly known by the nicknames of “Baldy B” and "Savage," was loved beyond measure. He touched so many hearts during time here on earth and will be missed immensely, but his sweet spirit will remain.
In addition to his human parents, Amanda and Jake, and grandmother, Evelyn, mourning his loss are his three younger fur brothers: Dozer, Gunner, and Rex.
