Boomer Sparks, the beloved brindle American Pit Bull Terrier puppy of Dennis and Nicole Sparks of New Castle, Indiana, unexpectedly passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. Boomer was born on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, and was adopted from the Indy Humane Society in Indianapolis, Indiana.
A pitbull puppy, the choice Dennis made to join the family, was one of the very best breeds suited for families—according to dogbreedinfo.com—Pitbull puppies are energetic, loyal, and protective dogs that can make great family companions with proper training and socialization.
From the day little Boomer arrived at his new home, he very much fit that description of his breed. Nicole described his personality as “so awesome." He loved people and played with everyone. He was loving, playful, and energetic," and said that they “loved how he interacted with our two-year-old daughter, Gracelyn.”
Boomer did not care for getting a bath, but he did enjoy having his fur brushed.
Boomer loved going on car rides with his family, especially with his fur sibling Pork Chop, the family’s other pit bull, by his side, according to Nicole.
Boomer loved munching on his favorite treats of peanut butter-flavored bones, and his favorite toys were squeaky toys and toys that made sound.
Nicole shared their favorite memory of Boomer: “Our favorite memory was when he followed us outside and would wait on treats and would come back in and lay with Gracelyn.” Nicole recalled, “One funny story was when Gracelyn was playing with him and he would try playing with her, and she yelled at him to stop, and he went to his kennel.” Boomer had such a huge heart in his little body and loved everyone, but he had the closest relationship with his human sister Gracelyn and Dennis.
Boomer, who was also lovingly referred to by his nickname of “Boom Boom," will forever be remembered for his loving nature and the joy he brought during his short time on this earth. He will be missed dearly, but Nicole and Dennis and the entire family are grateful for the time they got to share with her sweet boy. In addition to Nicole and Dennis, Boomer will be sadly missed by Gracelyn Sparks, Anthony Sparks, Garrett Wise, Cassie Dowling, Travis Armstrong, Brayden Wise, Raelynn Wise, Dale Mastin, Emilee Whited, Ava Mastin, Jailynn Lancaster, William Armstrong, Eric Lancaster, Melissa Kendall, and Waylon Mastin and, of course, by his fur sibling Pork Chop.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever in Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home, located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Boomer Sparks.
