Chubbs Jackson-Williamson, the beloved guinea pig of Zoe Jackson and Gage Williamson of Greenfield, Indiana, unexpectedly crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Friday, April 11, 2025. Chubbs was born approximately in 2015 in Kentucky. He started out his young life with another family until he was adopted by Gannon Best. Unfortunately, due to a change in the family’s living situation, Gannon was unable to continue to keep Chubbs. Gannon approached Zoe and his older brother, Gage, to see if they would be interested in providing a home for Chubbs. In 2020, Zoe and Gage happily gave Chubbs a loving home.
Chubbs adapted perfectly. He was a social boy who loved people. Zoe shared her favorite memory of how Chubbs would wake her up with his little squeaks in the morning. What Zoe loved the most about Chubbs was the way he would eat his treats and the little crunching sound he would make; it was her favorite. She also shared that she loved the fact that he was right by their front door. So his little face was the first and last thing she would see when leaving and arriving home. Chubbs enjoyed nibbling on Hay Chew Treats, and he loved strawberries. His favorite snacks were the softer pieces of hay and his frosted cookies. According to Zoe, he would not eat any other kind. Chubbs did not like riding in the car; it made him very anxious. Zoe shared that they tried to keep car rides to a minimum for him. Zoe relayed that Chubbs did not enjoy baths, but he did not mind having his nails trimmed. Zoe shared another memory of her time with Chubbs before she and Gage adopted him and he was still living with Gannon. Gannon would limit the amount of carrots Chubbs could have because he felt Chubbs would become addicted to them. Zoe and Gage would go to visit the family, including Gannon and Chubbs. While visiting, Zoe would sneak Chubbs carrots. Gage would constantly get after her for smuggling carrots to him. Zoe didn’t care; she loved the happiness it brought him. There was one time she snuck him out of his cage and carried him around, letting him smell all of their houseplants. Zoe shared, “He even ate some leaves off of roses,” adding, “That started his daily habit of getting lettuce!” Zoe described Chubbs’s personality as “a social little guy. He liked what he liked. He loved trying new veggies and fruits. Zoe relayed that “Chubbs loved everyone. All you had to do was give him a carrot, and you were his best friend!”
The people Chubbs loved the most in this world were Zoe and Gage. Zoe jokingly relayed he loved them the most ”because we always gave him his favorite foods," which they happily did.
Chubbs, who Gannon originally named “Chubbs McNubs” and who was also lovingly nicknamed “Chubby Bear,” “Chubbins,” “Little Piggy,” and “Handsome Little Guy,” was loved so very much. He will be deeply missed by Zoe and Gage, who will cherish the memories of his happy, furry life. In addition to his human parents, Zoe and Gage, Chubbs will be sadly missed by his previous owner, Gannon Williamson, who loved him immensely.
