Cinnamon Steigerwald, beautiful calico girl of Thomas Steigerwald from Elwood, Indiana, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Sunday, November 24, 2024. Cinnamon joined the Steigerwald family in 2016. Cinnamon was an independent, serious girl. She was very calm and quiet. Cinnamon fit the personality traits of her calico breed; Baxter Animal Hospital states, “Calicos have a reputation for unique personalities, sometimes referred to as ‘catitude.” They tend to be strong-willed, a bit hot-tempered, and they can be very possessive of their human. Other words used to describe them are fiercely independent, feisty, and unpredictable.” Cinnamon really didn’t care for any cat toys and wasn’t all that playful. She absolutely did not like car rides, going to the vet, or being crated. Thomas relayed one of his favorite memories of his time with Cinnamon, which was when he had to rescue her, but the two of them just ended up hanging out for a while: “When we moved into our new house, she found a way into the crawl space under the house, and I had to go down to get her, but first we hung out down there for a bit because she really liked it down there.” Thomas never attempted to bathe her because she hated water. She did, however, love being brushed. Cinnamon was a fierce girl; according to Thomas, she was always able to scare off their dog who was bigger than she was. Cinnamon didn’t really care much for cat treats, but she loved frozen custard. Thomas shared that if he had had frozen custard, “she would go crazy, and I'd have to give her a little nibble of it.” She didn’t like to be held, and if you tried to, she would let you know it. Cinnamon was very cautious around new people, but once she got to know them, she would be polite to them as long as they didn’t make the mistake of trying to pick her up. Cinnamon nicknames were “Synonym" and "Cinnaminion." Cinnamon really just enjoyed being with Thomas, who she loved and was her favorite person. He was the only person who could pick her up without receiving a clawing. Cinnamon’s favorite place to be was in Thomas’ room; her favorite object was Thomas’ blanket. She would knead it every time just before she did her favorite activity, napping. Her other favorite activity was eating. Cinnamon was loved, and her spunky, feisty spirit will be missed.
