Cookie Ward Obituary

Cookie Ward, age 14, a sweet blue calico girl belonging to Cheyana Ward, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Friday, September 21, 2024. Cookie was given as a gift to Cheyana by a friend of hers in the late summer of 2010, when Cheyana was just a young girl. Cookie was so beautiful with her fluffy, long fur and gorgeous, bright green eyes. Cheyana proudly worked with Cookie and showed her in 4-H. Cookie was so loving; she was a snuggler and loved being cuddled. She was an adventurous and playful girl who loved to venture outside and take walks through the garden. Even as a senior cat, Cookie was still just as spry as a kitten when a couple of years ago, during the summer, she was outside and she caught and killed a quick-moving hummingbird.

Cookie enjoyed playing and batting ropes and snacking on her favorite treats, which were meow mix treats. Cheyana shared how in 2020 she made a custom space for Cookie to sleep out of a little box, and after Cheyana completed it, from that forward it became Cookie’s favorite place to sleep. Although Cookie was loving, she was also a very independent girl and made sure everything was on her terms. When she was in the mood to play, she would. When she wanted to be loved on, she would let you. If she wanted to sit and just look pretty, she would. Cookie was a natural beauty, luckily, because she definitely wasn’t a fan of her visits to the groomers. Cookie, who Cheyana referred to as her nickname “Baby Girl,” was absolutely Cheyana’s girl; she followed Cheyana everywhere, all the way meowing, showing her love, and Cheyana is absolutely heartbroken by the loss of her sweet girl.

In addition to Cheyana, Cookie will be lovingly remembered by her human family members, Aunt Katie Shaw, Grandmother Victoria Lunsford, and Great Grandparents Harold Ward and Debbie Kerrigan.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever in Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home, located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Cookie Ward.
