Donna Jean Young

Donna Jean Young, age 42, of Greenfield Indiana, passed away on Thursday, July 28th, 2022 at Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana after courageously battling a lengthy illness. Donna was born September 23, 1979 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Donna attended New Castle High School in Indiana and was employed in the Hospitality Industry for many years until becoming a full time Nanny for the past two years. Family was the most important thing in this world to Donna. Being a Nanny gave Donna the opportunity to safeguard her nieces and nephews and all the children in her life and with that came the joy of watching them grow and flourish. Donna was a lover of animals as well, especially her beloved dog, Floyd who was always by her side and is also mourning her passing.  Donna enjoyed cooking alongside her daughter and her favorite food was fresh fruit, and it had to be fresh. Donna liked the outdoors, going on walks and fishing. When not outside, Donna was happy to watch all different types of movies and different television shows on Netflix or Hulu, her genre was very diverse. A music lover, Donna had a passion for all types of music, from Alice In Chains, Godsmack, Metallica, Journey and Michael Jackson and the Italian operatic tenor, Andrea Bocelli. Donna felt that music spoke to all when words would fail. Music was so important to Donna that she planned the music to be played during her own funeral service. Donna is preceded in death by her precious mother, Deborah Cook, who tragically passed away just two days before Donna. Donna is also preceded in death by her grandparents; Imogene and Alvin Prater. Donna is survived by her two children who loved her dearly; daughter, Kyla Jolley of Greenfield, Indiana and son, Schyler (Destiny) Gee of Anderson, Indiana and by her sweet granddaughter, Nova. Donna is also survived by her sisters; Jennifer (Jerry) Dickson of Georgia, Sandra Smith of Greenfield, Indiana and April (Kevin Fisher) Young of Indianapolis, Indiana, nephews; Derrick Dunaway and Greysin Fisher, nieces; Whitney Dunaway, Katelynn Dunaway, Kira Hughes, Rose Cook and Aryanna Hellard as well as many other family members and friends. Friends may call on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at the Liming Family Funeral Home in Shirley, Indiana from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m for visitation.
