Earl Rouille Obituary

Earl John Rouille, age 87, of Greenfield, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Brandywine Brickyard Health Care surrounded by his loving family. Earl was born April 25, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to his beloved mother, Sophie (Luecht) Rouille, who preceded him in death. Earl attended Palatine High School and was a 1953 graduate. Earl began his career as a Machinist while attending high school. Earl was a wonderful son and brother and while training as a Machinist was happy to help ease the financial burden on his mother, who was solely responsible for raising Earl and his two siblings. After graduating high school, Earl met and married the love of his life, Delores. They were happily wed on July 7, 1956 and celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary this past July. Earl and Delores decided to make Indiana their home and settled down in the little town of Clermont. Earl was fortunate as a skilled Machinist, Uncle Sam felt his skills were needed stateside in support of the Korean Conflict. Earl and Delores were blessed with three children, son, David (Tammy) Rouille of Missouri, daughters; Julie (Robert) Mcginnis of Greenfield, Indiana and Dianna (Wade) Woelfle of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Along with raising a family, Earl and Delores worked hard, side by side and opened their own machine shop business in 1970 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Earl worked at their business, E & R Machine Company for 47 years until his retirement in 2017. Earl and Delores created wonderful memories spending many years vacationing with his sister, Carol and husband, Roy. They traveled as a group from as far South as Florida to as far North as Canada and visited many states in between. Earl liked good old classic cars. He enjoyed history, especially the Civil War era and visited Gettysburg, Pennsylvania along with Delores. Earl loved Delores’ home cooking. He was known to have a “sweet tooth” and, he was especially fond of her homemade Egg Custard Pie. He loved most everything she made but he was definitely not a fan of green beans.  Earl liked square dancing and he and Delores spent many Saturdays Square Dancing the night away with friends. Earl liked the music of radio station 107.0 WIBC and listened to Harry Belafonte, Marty Robbins and enjoyed the Christmas music of Mannheim Steamroller. Earl was also a fan of Paul Harvey. Another hobby of Earl’s was making his own homemade wine. Earl wasn’t too much into sports but was a Pacers and Colts fan. His family shared fond memories of Earl happily spending time with his sweet dog Kara, a boxer given to Earl and Delores from their daughter Julie.  A lifelong follower of the Lutheran faith, Earl was baptized in 1935 and attended Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palatine. In 1956 Earl moved to Indiana and became a member of Grace Lutheran Church for 61 years. For the past five years Earl has attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Carmel. Earl was deeply loved by his family. He was a loving husband, a wonderful big brother to his siblings and a hero to his children and grandchildren. In addition to Earl’s wife and children, Earl is survived by his sister, Carol (Roy) Stafford and brother, Ralph (Ruth) Rouille, grandchildren; Conlan, Grant (Kelsey), Spencer, Tyler, Brent, David Michael, Brandy and Amber as well as numerous other family members and friends. Earl is preceded in death by his mother, Sophie and grandparents; Herman and Martha Luecht. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 from 10am-11am with Funeral Service to follow at Bethlehem Lutheran Church located at 1484 West Main Street, Carmel, Indiana 46032. The service will be officiated by Pastor Seth Bode. A reception luncheon will follow the funeral at the church for family and friends to gather and remember Earl. Burial will follow directly after the reception at 3 p.m. Earl will be laid to rest at the Philadelphia Church Cemetery located at: in Greenfield, Indiana.
