Evelyn "June" (Cook) Richey

Evelyn “June” Richey, age 101, former longtime resident of Shirley, Indiana passed away peacefully at her home in Greenfield, Indiana on Saturday, July 16, 2022. She was surrounded by her loving family.  Lovingly known as "June", she was born March 6, 1921 to parents, Clifford Kyle Cook and Lucille (Chadwick) Cook in New Castle, Indiana. June graduated from Wilkinson High School in 1939. After graduation, June met and married her loving husband, James Allen Richey in 1942. They were married for 34 years until his passing in 1976. June was employed by Henry County Memorial Hospital as a PBX Operator and retired after many dedicated years of service. June was a very active member of the Shirley-Wilkinson United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Group. June was also a member of the Shirley Red Hat Society. June enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was an avid reader who enjoyed various subjects from a good mystery to reading the Bible. June liked watching good old classic movies and television on the Turner Network Channel and listening to classic Country Music legends like Eddie Arnold and Dolly Parton. In addition to her parents, June is preceded in death by her husband James Allen Richey and daughter, Marcia “Marty” Elsworth.  June is survived by her children; Michael (Marsha) Richey, David Richey, Priscilla “Pixie” (Roger) Kenyon and Son-in-law, Thomas Elsworth. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson as well as several nieces, nephews and many cousins. June will be dearly missed by her family and friends.  The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Sharon Schwering who lovingly cared for June for many years.  At June’s request, a private graveside service will be held at Glen Cove Cemetery with her grandson Travis Kenyon officiating. The staff of Liming Family Funeral are honored to serve the family of Evelyn “June” Richey.
