Flash Payne of Charlottesville, Indiana, lovable Basset Hound of Steve Payne passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Steve always wanted a Basset Hound as a pet. During his first marriage, he and his wife made a trip to Uncle Bill’s Pet Store. Even though he had his heart set on getting a Basset dog and could not really financially afford a $2500 dog, his wife at the time, along with the salesman, convinced him that a Husky pup should be the pet they brought home. Two weeks later, Steve received a phone call from a friend who was desperately trying to find a home for a Basset Hound pup. Steve happily jumped at the chance to give this pup a home. Those who know Steve well know his nickname is "Cooter,” so it seemed to Steve the perfect name for his new Basset Hound dog would be "Flash.”. The Husky dog, along with his first wife, left the home and the marriage shortly thereafter. Flash has been by Steve’s side for the last seventeen years. Flash loved going bye-bye with Steve, riding in the tow-truck every chance he could. Flash enjoyed eating cheeseburgers. Flash enjoyed the good life. He loved laying in the yard, soaking up the sunshine. Flash would like to take his family for a leisurely walk. He would catch a whiff of something, and with his strong sense of smell, Flash would get easily distracted and start tugging on his leash when he would catch a scent. Flash was never in a big hurry. He had the personality of Eyeore unless it came to food. If Flash heard the word "treat," he would come running full speed and stop whatever he was doing. Steve was happy to make Flash part of his family. Steve said Flash was the only thing in his life that stood by him for the last seventeen years. In addition to Steve, Flash will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by fur mom Elizabeth Furr, human siblings Austin, Logan, and Cody Payne, and dog siblings Hippie and Payton.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever In Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Flash Payne.
