Florence (Rose) Treadway

Florence (Rose) Treadway, age 93, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at her residence in Greenfield, Indiana. She was born on September 9, 1931, in Salt Lick, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Lovell and Etna Mae (Couch) Rose. Florence attended Knightstown High School. After high school, she married the love of her life, Richard Treadway. Florence was a dedicated employee and worked for Eli Lilly and Company until her retirement.  Florence and Richard were both avid animal lovers and owned many dogs and cats. Florence and Richard spent many years traveling together in their RV, visiting nearly every state in the country with their pets in tow. They also had artistic spirits: they created beautiful ceramic pieces in their own kiln, with Florence painting most of them. They enjoyed many wonderful years together until Richard’s passing in 2008. Florence was a collector of stuffed animals, and had quite a few. Florence enjoyed attending church. She liked listening to all types of gospel and religious music. As long as it was praising the Lord, it was good music to listen to. She could watch Jimmy Swaggart Ministries, all day, every day. She loved good old-fashioned home country cooking. She made the very best chocolate fudge at Christmas and made sure she made enough for everyone.  

Florence is survived by her loving brother, Billy Wills, nieces and nephews; Lynn Neal, Suzee (Scott) Neal and David (Tonia) Wills, and special “adopted kids”, Andy and Kathy Pawlick. She is also survived by many other family and friends she made along the way. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.  

Florence is preceded in death by her husband, Richard, parents, father, Lovell Rose, mother, Etna Mae (Couch) Rose-Wills and stepfather, Burley Wills. 

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Florence’s longtime caregiver, Joretta Jones. You have been such a tremendous blessing to us, and we are so thankful to you. We would also like to thank the wonderful team at Suburban Hospice who cared for Florence and treated her more like family than a patient: Abby, Angie, Nancy, Logan, Linda and Katheryn. You have our deepest gratitude. 

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held Thursday, for Florence on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 3:00 at Glen Cove Cemetery, located in Knightstown, Indiana, with Jordan Wills officiating.
