Greta B Obituary

Greta B. of Ingalls, Indiana, sweet girl of Jen and Vicki Doyle, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Sunday, November 24, 2024. She was born on Friday, November 11, 2011, and just celebrated her 13th birthday. Greta was a beautiful Labrador mix and was the very sweetest girl. Jen found puppies that were being sold for $35 out of the back of a van. She decided to give this little one a chance at a loving home. Little did they know that day that the $35 they spent was going to bring them an abundance of unconditional love and happiness. Even as a puppy, Greta could sense when someone she loved needed her, and she would always be by their side, giving them comfort, especially her mama Jen. Greta was shy but very motherly. Whenever a new fur baby arrived at the Doyle residence, Greta would instantly be drawn to take care of the new one, being loving and protective as if it were her own. She had the personality of both Eeyore and Tigger rolled into one. She was tenderhearted and gentle when she needed to be and full of energy and playful at times. She was full of life. Her family relayed what a good girl Greta was, jokingly stating, “Out of all our dogs, we always said she was the ‘best one.’” Her family shared their favorite memories of Greta, was that she was entertaining—without even knowing it. “From her goofy frolicking around in her own world to licking windows. I loved when she would be in front of me and I would look down. She would always look up with loving eyes and be so overwhelmed with happiness and joy that she would make these noises. The noises were like she was about to burst from the excitement but still remaining a good girl and not jumping up but sitting there waiting for you to pet and love on her.  The look in her eyes was just pure love. We would say, ‘Doin' the Greta!’”

Greta was so laid back, she didn’t mind being bathed or groomed like some dogs do. She didn’t have any particular toys she played with, although she was recently partial to Vicki and Jen’s granddaughter’s oversized unicorn. She wasn’t picky about her treats, but she was fond of the stuffed peanut butter bones. She also always knew that when they were having pizza, she and her fur sisters got pizza crust, or as Jen shared,  they would get their “pizza bones.” Greta loved being outdoors, going on walks, and playing in the water. Greta enjoyed going on car trips with her family in the jeep with the top off, the wind in her fur. Greta especially loved traveling to Florida to visit her human Grammy. In the past year, Greta traveled to more places than some humans have ever ventured. Greta got to go to Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Texas in the RV with her family. Greta adored her family. Wherever her family went is where she wanted to be.  Greta’s need was to always be alongside her family, “If you left her inside and you were outside or vice versa, she would lick the window or glass door.”  Greta was especially close to her human mama, Jen. They had a special bond; Jen was her person and Greta was Jen’s ‘person’.  Greta, who was also lovingly known as “Greta B” and “Gertty Gert,” brought so much joy and happiness to her entire family; she will be forever missed and never forgotten.

In addition to Jen and Vicki, Greta will be sadly missed by her human babies, Silas, Oliver, and Margot; her Grammy and Donia; and her fur siblings, Wrigley, Izzy, Itty, and Mr. Kitty. Greta is preceded in death by her fur sisters, Cara and Juniper, who were waiting for her on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.
