Gunny Clark, the beloved American Bulldog of Jason and Misty Clark of Greensboro, Indiana, passed over the Rainbow Bridge Saturday, January 18, 2025. Gunny was born in Indianapolis and became a member of the Clark family after he was adopted by Jason and Misty in the spring of 2018. When Jason and Misty made the decision to adopt an American Bulldog puppy, the choice they made was one of the very best breeds suited for families—according to dogbreedinfo.com—the temperament of the American Bulldog is “loyal, reliable, brave, and determined. Not a hostile dog. Alert and self-confident, this breed genuinely loves children. It is known for its acts of heroism toward its master.”
And from the day little Gunny arrived at his new home, he very much fit that description of his breed. His family described Gunny as “loving, goofy, loyal, and sweet.”
Gunny quickly grew from an adorable puppy to a handsome big boy. Gunny was a big, sweet boy and didn’t have a clue what size he really was. Gunny had an intimidating look about him, but he didn’t have a mean bone in his body. Gunny’s family described him as “a big baby” who was “literally scared of his own shadow” and that “Gunny had no idea he was a big dog and thought he could fit anywhere.”
Two things that Gunny did not care for were getting a bath and going on car rides. Since he did not like bath time, it took two people to bathe him, because he was too big and too strong for one person to handle. Gunny absolutely did not like riding in the car; it was too scary for him.
Gunny had so many more things in his life that he loved. He wanted nothing more than to receive pets and love. Gunny greeted everyone he met the same way, with his happy, wagging tail. Misty relayed that “He had the funniest run and ran with a joyful, lumbersome trot. Watching him run was like watching a kid that couldn't contain his happiness.” Gunny loved a good belly or chest rub. If you rubbed his chest slowly, he would fall fast asleep. Gunny enjoyed napping a lot, and his snores could be heard throughout the house. Gunny’s favorite activities were eating food and getting hugs. Gunny was a gentle giant and loved his little dog sibling, Soma, and cat sibling, Vigil, who he was especially close to. Sweet Gunny never met a stranger and loved everyone. What Gunny loved the most in his life was his family. but his favorite place to be was beside his favorite person, his dad, Jason. Misty shared her favorite memory of Gunny, watching him show his immense love for his dad: “He would lay with his dad and snuggle until they would both fall asleep.”
Gunny’s family loved him so much. Gunny will forever be remembered for his immense heart, his loving nature, and the joy he brought to his family. They will miss him dearly but are grateful for the time they got to share with their sweet boy. In addition to Jason and Misty, Gunny will be sadly missed by his human siblings, Zach, Wyatt, and Skyler, and younger dog sibling Soma and cat sibling, Vigil.
