Hershey McCormick

Hershey McCormick, aged 19 of Greenfield, Indiana, a sweet domestic short-haired boy belonging to Carly and Jon McCormick, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Sunday, August 3, 2025.

Carly lived at home with her mother, Becky, and was 10 years old. Carly stepped up to help when she heard a neighboring farmer express that a male and female kitten were orphaned after their mother died crossing the road in front of their home. 

At two weeks old, Hershey and his sister, Milky Way, were bottle-fed, raised, cared for, and loved by Carly and her friends. They were fortunate to land in the arms of Carly, who, into adulthood, continued to love animals and was dedicated enough to give Hershey and Milky Way their forever homes. 

Hershey and his sister later moved to Jacksonville, Florida, after joining his dad, Jon. 

His favorite person in this world was Carly. Carly saved Hershey; he was forever grateful to his mama, who became his constant companion from the day he was rescued until the day he crossed the Rainbow Bridge. 

Carly and Jon are saddened by the loss of Hershey, but they are comforted by the fact that they know Hershey was greeted on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge by his fur sibling, Milky Way, and his Grandma Becky, who preceded Hershey in death, and welcomed Hershey with open, loving arms when he crossed over. 

In addition to Carly and Jon, Hershey will be lovingly remembered by his cat siblings, Snickers and Dove; his dog siblings, Hemi, Jag, and Zoey; and friends of the McCormicks who were lucky enough to spend some time with this sweet, sassy boy.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever in Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home, located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Hershey McCormick.
