Jeffrey "Jeff" Nelson Rhodes

Jeffrey "Jeff" Nelson Rhodes, age 61, of Shoals, Indiana passed away after battling cancer on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Mitchell Manor. He was surrounded by his loved ones. He was born June 19, 1960 in Rushville, Indiana, to parents, George Everett Rhodes and Carolyn Esther (Pitts) Rhodes.
Jeff attended Eastern Hancock High School and shortly after obtained his General Educational Development Diploma. Jeff resided in Shoals, Indiana. He loved watching Nascar and was a big fan of Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson. Jeff's main occupation was Remodeling and Construction, in his spare time he also enjoyed woodworking and refinishing. Jeff also was a WWE Wrestling fan and would have watched it every day if he could have. He loved animals and they loved him too, especially his dog Spanky, who never left his side. Although Jeff wasn't a hunter he did happen to kill a 16-point buck using his 1990 GMC Truck and proudly displayed his trophy.  Jeff was known as the "little black sheep brother" and lived life on his own terms, he lived his life "his way". His favorite color was blue and he loved good old classic rock and roll music.
Jeff is survived by his partner of over 21 years, Norma Collis, sisters; Jennifer (Randy) McClarnon, Jane (Lyle) Hilton
and brothers; James (Julie), Joseph, Jay (Catherine) and sister-in-law, Katheen. Jeff had no "biological" children of his own, but he is survived by the son he chose as his own, Jon Stone. Jeff is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many other family members and friends. Jeff loved children and was a wonderful Uncle to all his nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Jeff is also preceded in death by his brother, John. Jeff will be truly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 29th, 2021 from 11am-1pm with Funeral Service to follow at Liming Family Funeral Home located at 306 Main Street in Shirley, Indiana. Burial Immediately following at Arlington Cemetery in Arlington, Indiana. The service will be officiated by Jeff's cousin, Reverend Myron Rhodes.
