Julius Holmes Obituary

Julius Holmes of Greenfield, Indiana, a sweet orange and white tabby boy of the Holmes family, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge at 1:30 am on Thursday, March 6, 2025. Julius was born in March 2014 in Indiana. He crossed paths with Jake Holmes, who was a student at Ball State University. Jake decided to give this little guy a home. While enjoying the campus life, he became an honorary member of the Dicks Street Mafia. While visiting Jake’s parents on Thanksgiving, it was decided he would come to live with them. The very best part of this is Jake would always be able to keep in touch with him anytime he wanted to.

Julius was a loving boy who always wanted to be the center of attention.  His family described him as “hardheaded and nosey.” Julius liked a lot of things, but one thing he absolutely did not like was riding in the car. That was a big “NO” for him. Trina’s cherished memory will be his headbutt kisses. Julius enjoyed being groomed, taking baths, and having his fur brushed.  Julius didn’t drink water out of an ordinary water dish. He would only drink the water directly from the faucet in the bathtub and would be soaking wet in the process. Julius’s favorite activities were munching on his snacks, specifically ham lunchmeat; taking leisurely naps; playing with his younger sister, Caesar; watching the birds; and going for walks with his family. His favorite belongings were his stuffed toy mouse and his soft blanket.  Julius was so loving to everyone, but he adored Bill. Bill was his favorite person.  Julius looked forward to his nap times with Bill and would wait for him so they could nap together. They were napping partners. Julius, also known affectionately by his family as “Bubbies, Kingsh*t, and Mr. Julius,” was a loving, loyal, and devoted companion to this family for many years and brought many laughs.

In addition to his human family members, Dad Jake, Grandpa Bill, and Grandma Trina, mourning the loss of Julius are his Aunt Casey, who was with him until he crossed over the rainbow bridge, and his cat sister, Caesar, who is also grieving him immensely. Also missing him are his human friends, Josh, Jensen, Mark (who called him TC), MacKenzie, and his fur cousins and friends: April, Andy, Moxie, Kuma, Kiwi, and Max.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever in Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home, located in Shirley, Indiana.  We are honored to serve the family of Julius Holmes.
