Junie Beatrice Whitfield, known by her family as “Junie B”, of Muncie, Indiana, beloved Bullmastiff of Jazmine Whitfield, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge late Monday evening, September 23, 2024 after saying goodnight to her human siblings who she adored. Junie B was born on March 23, 2020 in Rochester, New York. From the day this sweet Bullmastiff girl became a part of the Whitfield family she displayed all the characteristics that are true to her breed of being gentle, affectionate, and loyal to her family. Jazmine described Junie B as the “sweetest most loving dog who knew what I needed before I did” Junie B brought so much joy and happiness and a lot of laughter to the family. She actually loved the water and enjoyed taking baths, when she shook her coat to dry off she would get you and everything around you soaking wet. Most dogs would shy away from rain and thunderstorms, but Junie B wasn’t afraid. She loved the rain too and loved to get absolutely dripping wet. Junie B had a big personality and was a talker too, she definitely wasn’t shy or afraid to let you know when she had something to say. Junie B’s favorite toys were the toys she liked to sneak into the girls toy box and borrow. She would pull out the Elmo and Cookie Monster stuffies and borrow them to play with. Every time, she would only choose those two. Junie B didn’t like to go on long car rides, she would get motion sickness, but when Jazmine would take her on a short trip to get her favorite treat, a juicy cheeseburger, Junie B would be so happy and excited when she would realize that short ride was to the restaurant drive thru and she knew at the end she was going to have her favorite treat waiting for her. Junie B also was a cookie snatcher. Jazmine shared a funny memory of the time her little daughter was standing in the kitchen and Junie B circled her five times eyeing the cookie she was holding in her hand and quickly but gently took the cookie from her hand, she stated “she was so big and so fast but so gentle” Junie B stole cookies but the girls stole Junie B’s heart. Junie B loved them so much and was always on high alert when any strangers were around. She knew that it was her job to protect them and keep them safe. Jazmine was Junie B’s person. Junie B adored Jazmine and would follow her around like her shadow. In return, Jazmine loved Junie B with all of her heart and is devastated by the loss of her sweet girl. Junie B and the love, happiness and joy she brought to her Whitfield family will be deeply missed.
In addition to Jazmine, left to cherish Junie B’s memory are her human sisters, Magnolia and Azalea.
