Katarina Steinmiller of New Castle, Indiana, the girl of Manda Phillips and Thomas Steinmiller, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, July 21, 2025.
Katarina was born on Monday, August 30, 2021, and found her forever home after being adopted by Manda and Thomas in mid-November of 2022 from the Henry County Humane Society in New Castle. Katarina was so excited to finally leave the Humane Society Shelter and have a family of her very own and a place to call home.
Thomas described Katana's personality as “very inquisitive, lazy, and affectionate.”
Thomas shared what he loved most about Katarina: “Whenever we would sit down near her, she would always get on our lap.”
Katarina was indifferent about being groomed. According to Thomas, “She never really displayed any aversion or enjoyment towards grooming or bathing; she just went with whatever.”
Katarina did not like traveling at all. She had a preexisting heart condition; she knew that traveling usually meant she was going to the vet to check on her heart.
Thomas recalled a funny memory of how Katarina once cozied up in the dryer after they left the door open. She decided to climb in and make herself at home even though there were no clothes inside.
Katarina’s favorite snack or food was anything with gravy.
Thomas recalled his favorite memory of Katarina was the day they brought her home and how “quickly she acclimated, seemingly like she was just happy to be somewhere.”
Katarina's favorite object was any blanket she could snuggle up in. Thomas relayed that he felt that what Katarina valued the most in life was “her owners and naps.”
Katarina, who was also known as “fluffy pants” because she was so poofy, was a sweet girl and loved Thomas and Amanda equally.
Katarina was met across the Rainbow Bridge by her cat sibling, Kitty, who preceded her in death.
Katarina will be sadly missed but always remembered by Manda and Thomas.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever in Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home, located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Katarina Steinmiller.
