Kitty Steinmiller of New Castle, Indiana, the 17-year-old beautiful tabby girl of Manda Phillips and Thomas Steinmiller, passed over the Rainbow Bridge in the early morning hours of Monday, June 9, 2025.
Manda found Kitty on Friday, December 7th, in 2007, stuck in a small tree in Springville, Indiana.
Fortunately for this little kitten, this day was life-changing when this adorable little one found a forever home with Manda.
Kitty settled into her new home and was pretty set in her routine but could be flexible if she needed to. According to Manda, "She didn't enjoy change very much and always made sure we knew. She, however, adapted quickly.”
Manda described her personality as “very nosey; she wanted to be in everyone's business.” A playful, energetic kitty that enjoyed her food, naps, and pets. Very investigative and smarter than she looked.”
Kitty was not a fan of being groomed by her family, but she loved to be held like a baby by them. Kitty did not like traveling at all.
Manda relayed how Kitty held the other pets captive by lying in the doorways, making other animals she lived with think they were trapped in the room. stating, “No violence, just naps.”
Kitten’s favorite thing was food, and her favorite activity was eating. Manda shared that her favorite snack was “whatever human food you were eating; she would beg to get a bite of it.” What Manda relayed she loved most about Kitty was how she would find new ways to get into food even after she’d just eaten. Kitty was such a clever girl.
Manda recalled her favorite memory of Kitty was how she tricked everyone in the house into thinking that she needed to be fed, so she ended up with five servings of food.
Even Kitty's favorite toy was food-related. Manda shared, “Her favorite toy was a fish taco toy. She lost the original, and we had to buy backups.
Manda jokingly relayed that she felt that what Kitty valued the most in life was “her food bowl and her owners, specifically in that order.”
Kitty was also known as “Hungry Hungry Hippo,” “Little Gremlin,” and “Mamas.” Kitty fell in love with Thomas from the first day she met him; she loved him immensely. She never forgot how her mama, Manda, rescued her. She loved Manda so much and followed her from room to room.
Kitty will be sadly missed but always remembered by Manda and Thomas and by her cat sibling, Katarina.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever in Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home, located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Kitty Steinmiller.
