LeRoy Allen Cronk, age 71, of Greenfield Indiana, passed into the arms of his heavenly father on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. LeRoy, a loving husband, father, “poppy”, “papaw,” and “pops,” was born Monday, June 22, 1953, in Greenfield, Indiana, to the late Buddy and Geraldine “Gerri” (Spears) Cronk. Shortly after his birth, Gerri remarried, and LeRoy was raised by his mother, Gerri, and by his stepfather, Al Zimmerman, whom he referred to as “his dad,” who also preceded him in death.
LeRoy graduated from Dover High School in Dover, Ohio, in 1971. After graduation, LeRoy attended barber school and obtained his barber’s license. He started his barbering career soon after by opening his own barbershop, called the “Vintage Barber Shop.” His career spanned over 25 years before he retired. He made many friends along the way; his shop was more than just a place to get a trim; it was a place where people gathered to share stories, laugh, and feel like family.
LeRoy was also a skilled "woodcraft enthusiast” and created beautiful pieces out of wood. LeRoy was an easygoing, laid-back guy. His entertainment was diverse. He enjoyed watching classic old Western television shows, crime shows, and evening game shows. He enjoyed classic country and rock music and Christian music. When it came to food, he wasn't picky; he loved it all, but breakfast was his favorite. His family shared that he was always quick to say, “ Come on, let’s go grab some breakfast.” When it came to sports LeRoy has always been a huge Indianapolis Colts fan.
LeRoy enjoyed many things in his life, but nothing made him happier than spending time with those he loved. Family meant everything to LeRoy. Since retirement, one of LeRoy’s favorite places to be was in Nokomis, Florida, alongside his loving wife, Michele, where they would spend time from October through June and sometimes into July making memories and enjoying the beautiful warm Florida sunshine. He loved the time he was able to spend with his son, who followed in his footsteps by becoming a barber and working alongside him at the Vintage Barber Shop. He treasured the time with his children and grandchildren, and he absolutely cherished his precious time with his wife. LeRoy will be always loved, never forgotten, forever missed.
LeRoy is survived by his wife, Michele, whom he married on Saturday, May 12, 2012. Also mourning his loss are are his children, Erik (Jamie Partlow) Cronk and Sarah (Matt) Wilfley; stepdaughters, Elizabeth Sauer and McKenna (Eric) Foist, grandchildren, Brooklyn, Cali, Maric, Hailey, and Sabrina; and siblings, Stephen (Margie) Cronk and Alan (Anna) Zimmerman. In addition to LeRoy's parents, he was preceded in death on February 23, 2011, by his first wife, Patty (Porter) Cronk.
