Lucy Day of Carthage, Indiana, the 14-year-old sweet boxer girl of Reasha and Daniel Day, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Friday, February 7, 2025. In the summer of 2019, Reasha found this beautiful boxer wandering the streets near her family’s home. Reasha went around her neighborhood trying to find her owner but was unsuccessful. Reasha did not want her to get struck by a car, so for her safety, she decided to board her at a kennel and continue to make attempts to find the owner. The owner was ultimately found. After speaking with the owner, the decision was made that it would be in the best interest of Lucy to come and live with Reasha and her family. In July of 2019, Lucy joined the family who would love her forever and never abandon her. Lucy was a sweet, lovable girl. She was laid back and always looking for attention from her family. Lucy enjoyed snuggling with any pillow or blanket she could get her paws on. Even though Lucy loved her home, she was a runner and an escape artist. She would try to sneak out to visit the neighbors, and she ran the same path in the yard so often that it created “a figure eight.” She enjoyed always being on the go. One of Lucy’s favorite things to do was to go on car rides with her family. Something Lucy did not like was taking a bath; she did, however, like the peanut butter she got to lick off the spoon that Reasha gave her to coax her into the bath. Reasha shared her favorite memory of Lucy was while they were at her parents' house, “My pa had a steak on the counter thawing out. He asked me, "Where is my steak? Her dad stated, “Your dog got a hold of it.” Reasha recalled she “didn't see a steak wrapper in sight” until she went outside and found it and realized that Lucy had indeed snatched her dad’s steak.
What Lucy loved most was her family and her family’s food. Her absolute favorite treat was hot dogs. She loved everyone. Lucy was a protector and could always be found watching over and cuddling with her human siblings. She was a gentle girl who willingly shared her food and her bed with her kitty sibling also. Lucy’s strongest bond was with her human mama, Reasha, who saved her from a life of neglect years ago.
Lucy, who was lovingly nicknamed “Luc” and “Lucy Girl,” was a sweet, loving soul and will be sadly missed.
In addition to her human parents, Reasha and Daniel, mourning the loss of Lucy, are human siblings, Zayla and Wilder.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever In Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home, located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Lucy Day.
