Melissa “Missy” Marie (Trent) Norfleet

Melissa “Missy” Marie (Trent) Norfleet, age 51, Lewisville passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021 following a lengthy battle with cancer. Her courage, strength, and will to live served as an inspiration and testimony for anyone that knew her story. She was a 1987 graduate of Knightstown High School. Missy was an active member of the Wilkinson Church of Christ. At Wilkinson, she served on the Stephen’s Ministry team assisting people experiencing life’s difficulties. Missy was a beautiful soul, with a deep care and compassion for others. This was also evident in her professional career, where she was a Caseworker for the Indiana Division of Family Resources. More recently, she worked with troubled children, at the Youth Opportunity Center (YOC) in Muncie and New Castle.
Missy loved to take memorable trips with her grandsons and was happiest when spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Julia “Judy” (Youse) Trent. She is survived by her loving boyfriend of 8 years, Bart Wagoner of Lewisville; daughter, Tianne Marie Norfleet of Muncie; daughter, Chelsea Nicole Norfleet of Greenfield; daughter, Shaylee Makenna Norfleet of Eldorado, IL; grandsons, Dallas Riggs, Conner Norfleet, and Hunter Riggs; sister, Paula Thornton of Houston, TX; brother, Jesse Roberts Berry (Bob Trent) and his wife Diania of DeRidder, LA; brother, David Lee Sander and his wife Jenni of Knightstown, IN; Niece, Christi Thornton of Houston, TX.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the various doctors, nurses, and medical staff that provided such excellent care of Missy over the years at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, Sue Ann Wortman Cancer Center and Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield, and Suburban Home Health and Hospice. Although there will be no funeral arrangements, the family will later announce a celebration of Missy’s extraordinary life.
