Mijo Lutton Obituary

Mijo Francious Lutton, Toy Poodle of Cindy Lutton and J. E. Wright, was born in 2017 on the south side of Muncie, Indiana. Mijo was born to a breeder. In 2018, this gentleman needed some blood work done and happened to cross paths with Cindy, who was a medical assistant and was working as a phlebotomist at the time for LabCorp. While they were just discussing things in general, the gentleman brought up that he had a very sick young dog, born the runt of the litter, who had just turned a year old. He stated his puppies usually sell for $1200, but due to this little guy’s health condition, he was willing to sell him for $200. Cindy had a big heart and knew with her medical background she could give him the love and care that he needed. The pup was named "Mijo," which means “my son” in Spanish. Cindy decided to just keep the name since it would be very fitting since he was now her boy, but Cindy decided to add the middle name “Francious” just because she liked the French sound of the name. Mijo came home to live with Cindy and her fiancée, J. E. Wright. Mijo was also welcomed by their dog Barkley, a Pomchi, Chihuahua-Pomeranian mix, who showed Mijo the ropes. Cindy took Mijo to her local veterinarian. The doctor advised that little Mijo would be lucky if he lived four hours with all of the health problems he had. Mijo did have a lot of health concerns. He had breathing problems due to congestive heart failure, was diabetic, and had seizures. Cindy and J. E. did their very best to keep Mijo comfortable and to give him the opportunity to live as much of a normal, happy life as he could. With that being said, Mijo lived an amazing life in the short time he was here. Mijo has traveled—amazingly—to thirty-eight states. He has traveled over 16,000 miles by vehicle, sightseeing and doing road trips with his family. Mijo claimed Cindy as his own. He loved her so much. Cindy had to be very careful where she left her clothes, and she always had to pack extra clothing because Mijo would “mark” Cindy” by occasionally peeing on her leg. Mijo was a “face licker” and loved to shower you with kisses. Mijo could be a bit cantankerous. He would fight Barkley over food, toys, and lap time. Barkley was a tattletale and would make Mijo mad enough to snap at him. Cindy had to groom Mijo herself because he didn’t fare well with the groomers. Mijo thought it was fun to catch and eat bugs. Mijo enjoyed going for walks in the park alongside Barkley and running free and playing in the dog park. At a dog park in North Dakota, Mijo alerted Cindy to an injured bird at the park; he kept running to her and trying to get her to follow him. Once Cindy followed, Mijo led her to the injured animal, which led to the bird being rescued. Mijo did have a hunting side to him as well, sort of. He killed a couple of mice and then became terrified of them. On Mijo last trip with his family, they traveled to Blennerhassett Island in West Virginia. Mijo spotted a dead rattlesnake outside of the hotel. It really frightened him, and shortly thereafter he had a seizure. Cindy was used to Mijo having seizures and would hold Mijo whenever he had them until the seizure would pass. As she had done time and time before, Cindy held him, but this time he was different. He started biting and wheezing. After this seizure, Mijo's health just continued to deteriorate. Thursday, August 29 at 4:00 pm, little Mijo’s body could take no more. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge. The veterinarian advised that Mijo would have been lucky to have lived four hours. Thanks to the love and care he received from Cindy and J.E., little Mijo lived more in his short four years than some people do in their entire lifetime. He traveled the country, made lots of friends with Cindy’s coworkers at Lab Corp, and had a family that loved him immensely, and family is what Mijo loved the most. In addition to Cindy and J. E., Mijo will be sadly missed by his human siblings, Damon, Darrell, and Adam Lutton, and the grandchildren Mijo adored: Evan, Matthew, Amber, Angela, Erika, and Cherish. As cranky as Mijo could be, with Barkley at times, Barkey is grieving his fur brother so much as well.

Mijo will always remain in their hearts.
