Mildred Catherine “Cathy” Gootee, age 68, of Greenfield, Indiana, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023 at her residence surrounded by loved ones. She was born on July 21, 1954 in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents Franklin and Ernestine Dillon.
Cathy was raised in Indianapolis and attended St. Michael’s elementary school and was a 1972 graduate of Cardinal Ritter High School. Cathy attended Ball State University and worked as an executive secretary at Simon Property Group. Cathy was a fierce little firecracker, a strong, beautiful soul. She had a great quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. She loved animals and was a strong supporter of the ASPCA. Cathy was a cheese connoisseur and had a strong sweet tooth for chocolate and Frappuccinos from Starbucks. She enjoyed traveling and appreciated God’s gift of nature, her favorite flowers were lilies of the valley and yellow roses.
What mattered most to Cathy was her family and spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, and fur babies Tink and Onnie. Everyone blessed to have known Cathy loved her and her sense of humor. Cathy will be sadly missed by every heart she touched.
In addition to her parents, Cathy is preceded in death by her infant son, Aaron Gootee. Cathy is survived by her children, Diana (Josh) Slone of Sugar Grove, Ohio, Gregory (Kyrstie) Gootee of Greenfield, Indiana, Lauren (Tyler) Greenlee of Greenfield, Indiana, and grandchildren Zack, Tarrah, Lainie, Hailey, Landon, Jaylee, Carson, Paislee, Brynli, and Kynlee. Cathy is also survived by her brother Robert (Maria) Dillon of Melbourne, Florida, and sister Barbara (Richard) Bloom of Wilton, Connecticut, former spouse Rich Weber of Columbus, Ohio and lifelong best friend Jerry Gootee of Greenfield, Indiana, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the Greenfield Church of Christ, located at 1380 S State Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140, with Minister Brandon Lavy officiating the service. Burial to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery, located at 10612 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229. All expressions of sympathy, including flowers, honorary donations to the ASPCA in memory of Cathy and cards are welcome.
