Milky Way McCormick, of Greenfield, Indiana, a sweet domestic short-haired girl belonging to Carly and Jon McCormick, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Thursday, May 30, 2024, true to her nature, being stubborn every step before crossing over the Rainbow Bridge. Those who knew and loved Milky Way knew that she earned her nickname “Little Bit*%!“ aka “Little Bit,” honestly. Although she was an old girl at 18 years of age and not well, she was scrappy until the end of her journey. Milky Way was born a little fighter. Carly lived at home with her mother, Becky, and was 10 years old. Carly stepped up to help when she heard a neighboring farmer express that a male and female kitten were orphaned after their mother died crossing the road in front of their home. At two weeks old, Milky Way and her brother Hershey were bottle-fed, raised, cared for, and loved by Carly and her friends. They were fortunate to land in the arms of Carly, who, into adulthood, continued to love animals and was dedicated enough to give Milky Way and Hershey their forever homes. Milky Way had a sassy attitude, but in time, especially after living a few years in Jacksonville, Florida, and joining her dad Jon, she began to mellow out a bit and became a cuddler, a love bug. Milky Way loved watching and chirping at the birds. She was Carly’s personal office assistant and made sure she was always there on Carly’s desk while she was working from home. She loved sleeping on an old printer they had. Milky Way enjoyed going outside and rubbing all around on the porch. Milky Way loved her human and fur family; she loved her dad, Jon. But her very favorite person in this world was Carly. Carly saved Milky Way, and Milky Way was forever grateful to her mama, who became her constant companion from the day she was rescued until the day she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Carly and Jon are saddened by the loss of Milky Way, but they are comforted by the fact that they know Milky Way was greeted by her Grandma Becky, who preceded Milky Way in death, with open, loving arms when she crossed over.
In addition to Carly and Jon, Milky Way will be lovingly remembered by her cat siblings, Hershey, Snickers, and Dove; her dog siblings, Hemi, Jag, and Zoey; and friends of the McCormicks who were lucky enough to spend some time with this sweet, sassy girl.
