Opie Hankins-Davis.  Obituary

Opie Hankins-Davis, the handsome orange tabby boy of Nicole Hankins and Donnie Davis of Greenfield, Indiana, unexpectedly passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

Opie was born in March of 2021 after Nicole’s sister-in-law’s kitty accidentally got out of the house and got pregnant; Opie was one of her kittens. Opie was four years old.

Opie joined the family in May. According to Nicole, “We got him that May; he was my very first Mother’s Day present and also a surprise for my son.”

Nicole described Opie’s personality as “funny,” adding, “He was just a silly cat.”

Nicole recalled one of the things she loved about Opie was “He always looked angry,” continuing, “I think it had to do with the markings on his face that just made him look angry all the time. I loved it about him.”

Nicole relayed, "Opie was pretty good at grooming himself, but we have another male cat that he would let groom him."

According to Nicole, Opie enjoyed any type of cat treat. "Opie didn’t really have any favorite toys, but he did have a favorite computer chair he loved to sit in."

Nicole shared her favorite memory of Opie: “He loved to suckle on my neck. He would snuggle up in my hair on my shoulder and just suckle on my neck.”

Nicole jokingly shared that what Opie valued most in life was “food." "He loved his food, and he would let you know if the bowls were empty," Nicole continued. “On a serious note, I think he valued his little family.”

Opie felt a close bond to his human sibling, Blaze, but in time his bond shifted more toward his human mom and dad. Opie, whose family also referred to him as “O,” was a handsome, sweet soul. His human parents, Nicole and Donnie, loved Opie so very much; he will forever remain in their hearts.

In addition to Nicole and Donnie, mourning the loss of Opie are his human siblings, Blaze and Adalynn, and his fur siblings, Taz, Nash, and Mama.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever In Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home, located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Opie Hankins-Davis.
