Oso Bolton Obituary

Oso Bolton, age 14, of Greenfield, Indiana, the handsome Tibetan Mastiff Golden Retriever of Alexander and Katelyn Bolton, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, June 2, 2025. Oso was born in Indianapolis on Friday, October 22, 2010 and would have celebrated his 15th birthday this October. The name Oso was chosen because oso is Spanish means “bear”, and Alexander relayed, “He was fluffy and brown like a bear.” Alexander and Katelyn felt what Oso valued the most in his life was the time he spent running, jumping, and playing.

Alexander and Katelyn shared that what they loved the most about Oso was that he “never lost his puppy energy; he still ran and jumped with floppy ears and a wagging tail every day, even at 14 years old.”

Oso may have been a senior dog, but he was still a pup at heart. Alexander described Oso as “energetic, very puppy-like, continuing, “ I don't think he knew how old he was.”

Oso was such a laid-back, easygoing boy. Alexander and Katelyn lovingly recalled that Oso was “an excellent bath taker” and loved when he got groomed because he had such thick fur.

Oso's favorite treats were the Busy Bone Peanut Butter Dog Treats; he looked forward to getting this treat twice a month, and he always enjoyed getting doggie ice cream cups. He would slide the tiny ice cream cup across the floor to make sure he got every last bit of his treat.

Oso loved the outdoors. Sun, rain, or snow, it didn’t matter. So much so that even during bad weather they had to force him to come inside. Alexander and Katelyn shared, “Even then he would whine at the door to get back out.” Oso's favorite thing to play with was any stick in the yard. When Oso was outside, he would find the perfect stick, and he wouldn't let it go until it broke. When he was outside, Alexander and Katelyn always had to keep a close eye on Oso because he thought it was so much fun to play, according to Alexander, “Catch me if you can.” He would run around wildly, including laps around their own house for about 45 minutes if he happened to escape.

Their favorite memory of Oso was, “When we moved into our house in the country, there were snakes in the grass, and he would jump like a bunny rabbit in the grass trying to catch them, he was 10 years old at the time.”

Oso was a loving family dog. Alexander shared that “Oso watched ten kids grow up through the years in two different generations of the family.”

Oso was also referred to as “Oso-b-oso” by a lot of Alexander and Katelyn’s family and friends. He would get excited when they called him by this nickname and wag his tail in happiness.

Alexander and Kaetlyn are absolutely heartbroken by the loss of their easygoing, gentle, sweet boy. Oso has touched so many lives and left so many memories during his 14 years as a member of the Bolton family, and he will be forever remembered.

In addition to Kaetlyn and Alexander, Oso will be sadly missed by his human siblings, Justice and Eli, and by his furry dog siblings, Fluff and Brutus, and cat sibling, Hiro. Oso was greeted on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge by his dog sibling, Xander, who preceded him in death.
