Patches McFalls, beautiful 12-year-old calico girl of Tammy McFalls from New Castle, Indiana, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Friday, March 7, 2025. Patches was born on Saturday, March 17, 2012, and was just shy of turning 13 years old. Patches had a rough start early in her life; she was a homeless kitty. She ended up being rescued by Action for Animals, located in Muncie, Indiana. The organization takes in stray cats, provides medical care, and surgically spays or neuters cats before finding them new homes.
Tammy decided she wanted to adopt a pet, and she just happened to visit Action for Animals. According to Tammy, while there, she and Patches “picked each other.”
Patches was so happy to finally have her own loving, forever home with Tammy. Tammy relayed that she felt that what Patches valued the most in life was being “cared for and loved.”
In an article by PetPlace “A few characteristics are popularly attributed to the Calico cat. They are said, for example, to have sweet, endearing personalities. The Calico cat’s disposition is also considered warm-hearted, affectionate, and intelligent. Many Calico breeds get along well with children and other pets too. The Calico personality is also thought to be quirky. They are said to have a sassy but loving temperament, enjoying active play as much as purring in their owners’ laps. Some Calico cats have even been credited with intelligent acts of bravery, like saving their human and animal families or their entire litter of kittens from a burning building.”
Tammy shared fond memories of how her sweet Patches used to wildly chase flies throughout their home, sit in the windows to watch the birds, and enjoy the warmth of the sun on her. Patches' favorite things were pillows and coats. She would knead it every time just before cuddling up and napping on them. She absolutely did not like car rides; the ride after being adopted was enough of a car ride for her.
Tammy relayed her favorite memories of her time with Patches was when she received her “kitty kisses and cuddles.” She was a very affectionate girl who enjoyed snuggling. Patches, like most cats, did not like water or being bathed. What she did love, however, was being brushed and eating her Tuna Flavored Whisker Lickin's Cat Treats.
Tammy referred to Patches by her nickname of “Patch-Patch” and described her personality as always “sweet and loving.”
Patches' favorite place to be was beside Tammy, whom she adored. Tammy is absolutely heartbroken by the loss of her beautiful Patches, and she will never forget her sweet girl.
In addition to Tammy, mourning the loss of Patches are her human brothers, Tom and Tim, her Uncle Colten, her cat sister, Missy, and cat brother, Lynx.
