Payton Brown, the sweet 14-year-old Chihuahua-Yorkie mix girl of Erica and John Brown from Greenfield, Indiana, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, June 8, 2026.
Payton was born in Fountaintown, Indiana, in 2012, and she found her forever home as a puppy and officially became a part of the Brown family.
Payton was a huge part of Erica’s life. She was her constant companion. They shared a special once-in-a-lifetime bond.
Erica described Precious’s personality as “sweet, loving, and playful.”
Payton had such a loving personality and was an absolutely amazing, adorable girl.
Erica shared that what she loved about Payton was “how sweet she was and how playful she was, especially when she was younger.”
Erica recalled how Payton “loved any and all treats." "She loved turkey lunch meat the best.”
Her favorite toys were "the stuffed monkey toys with the long arms and legs." She also liked to play with a laser light pointer, according to Erica. “She loved chasing a laser light like a cat.”
Erica shared that her favorite memory of Payton was “when we brought her first little Yorkie sister home and she looked after her from day one.”
Erica relayed she did not enjoy bath time or being groomed.
Payton liked short car trips with her family, especially with her mom beside her.
Erica felt what Payton valued most in her life was “being outside when the weather was nice the most.”
Payton, often lovingly referred to by her nicknames as "Pate" and “Chicken Tate," brought happiness and joy to Erica’s life for 14 years. She will forever remain in her heart.
In addition to her human mom, Erica, mourning the loss of Payton are her human dad, John; her human sister, Macy; and her Yorkie sisters, Penny and Paisley.
