Pixie Eaton from New Castle, Indiana, the beloved Jack Russell Terrier Dachshund mix of Tabby, Marcus, Savannah, and Haylee Eaton, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge at 9:00 am on Tuesday, January 21, 2024. In November of 2017, Tabby’s mother’s dog gave birth to a litter of puppies. Tabby saw this little pup and decided to give this sweet girl a home. She gave this little one the name of “Pixie.”. Pixie was so happy in her new surroundings and made herself right at home. She asserted herself as the new diva of the home. Pixie enjoyed snuggling with soft pillows. She loved her couch time and was a true lap dog. She was happy to spend most of her time snoozing upon the lap of any of her loved ones. Pixie’s family happily spoiled her with her favorite treats of sausage and cheese.
Even though she had a diva personality, she was not a fan of baths but loved the feeling of being clean and comfy after her bath was finished.
Savannah described Pixie’s personality as “sparky but slightly lazy and pampered. A literal lap dog.”
When she wasn’t relaxing and being pampered in her home, Pixie spent a lot of time outdoors with her family, but in true diva fashion, she made sure even outdoors she was still being catered to. Savannah shared one of her favorite memories of Pixie: “We were hiking a moderate trail, and after half of it, she flopped the front half of her body on a log and gave up. She made my sister carry her the rest of the way. Pixie did not like swimming. Savannah recalled, “While swimming with my mom a few years ago, Pixie was tired or cold and sat on my mom's head while she was trying to swim.” Although Pixie didn’t like going for a swim, she enjoyed riding on the family’s boat and sunbathing. It was one of her favorite things to do. Pixie also loved going on car rides with her family and always took her place riding shotgun to ensure she would be able to look out of the car window and see all the sights. Pixie was such a smart, loving girl. According to Dogster.com, Jack Russells and Dachshunds, also known as “Jackshunds” are intelligent and affectionate; they are known to be particularly stubborn. They are a loyal and social companion, thrive on human interaction, and form strong bonds with their family members. Savannah shared that Pixie was a “small, chunky, loving, cuddly, and traitorous” little girl. Pixie was Tabby’s dog. Pixie loved each and every one of her family members, but her favorite person in the world was Tabby. According to Savannah, “She would ditch anyone for her, anytime.” Pixie was reunited with Tabby, who preceded her in death in 2020. Like her family, Pixie grieved the loss of Tabby so much that she became very attached to Savannah and leaned on her for comfort. Pixie became Savannah’s little shadow until she crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.
Pixie, also lovingly nicknamed “Weasel” and “Stinky,” brought so much happiness into this world. Pixie will be forever missed and never forgotten by Marcus, Savannah, and Haylee and her dog brother, Zouse.
