Rocky Novotny

Rocky Novotny, of Lynn, Indiana, the handsome, sweet boy of Jennifer Novotny Pack and Nolan Davis, passed over the Rainbow Bridge at 4:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026. 

Rocky was adopted on Thursday, May 22, 2022, from the Nebraska Humane Society.

His actual life began that day he was rescued and became part of a loving family on that day in May. Jennifer shared a favorite memory of their time with Rocky. “Him rolling on the blankets and pillows, turning them into the perfect Rocky nest.”

Jennifer described Rocky’s personality as "Large and in charge; he kept everybody in line."

Jennifer shared that what they loved the most about Rocky was "everything," continuing, "What we loved most about Rocky was his larger-than-life personality. He was a true diva who wasn't afraid to make his opinions known, yet he was our fiercest protector and the best snuggler. He was truly a best friend who filled our days with laughter and love.”

Jennifer relayed that “Rocky valued his snacks and watching cops every morning with his dad, Nolan, and letting everybody know what his opinion was on the matter.”

Rocky’s favorite toys were his “giant stuffies," especially his giant unicorn, according to Jennifer.

Rocky loved going bye-bye! Jennifer shared, “Rocky loved going for car rides. He expected to go on every car ride.”
 

Jennifer recalled, “Rocky was a big dog and very proud of it. Every day was both an adventure and a comedy. Every time horses came on TV, he would go crazy barking at them; he would even run behind the TV to look for them when they went off screen. One day while we were out, he met a real horse. We were very nervous that he would run up barking to the horse. As the horse approached us, he froze. One paw up like he was going to take a step…tail at half-wag…mouth agape…and he stayed frozen in that position while the horse proceeded to sniff him up and down. When the horse was finished, he turned and walked away. Rocky remained in that position until I reached down to touch him. As I touched him, he shook his head and proceeded to walk down the fenceline, stopping to sniff every fencepost nonchalantly.”

Jennifer jokingly shared that Rocky wasn’t picky about his treats: "There wasn’t a snack he didn’t like!”

Rocky loved Jennifer so much. Jennifer shared, “He loved his whole pack and had a special relationship with all, but he was my best friend and Nolan’s buddy."

Rocky, who was also known by the nicknames of "Rocko Socko," “Big Dawg," “Short Stack," and “Tough Guy," was loved by his family and by everyone who crossed paths with this big boy with his even bigger heart. He touched so many lives during his time here on earth, and he will never be forgotten.

In addition to his human parents, Jennifer and Nolan, mourning his loss are his fur brothers, Guapo, Brutus, and Duke, and his fur sister, PeeWee.
