Roscoe Magee, beloved boxer mix and sweet boy of Johnny and Amanda Magee, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at home. Roscoe was born on Tuesday, July 11, 2017. He officially became a part of the Magee family on September 3, 2017, after he was adopted from Canine Castaways, in Fountaintown, Indiana, a non-profit bully-breed rescue organization.
Roscoe fit in perfectly with his new family. His family shared that as a puppy he was scared of the dark. Roscoe brought so much happiness and joy to his new family. Roscoe’s personality is described as “friendly, goofy, smart, loyal, gentle, and trusting.”
Roscoe went everywhere and did everything with his dad. He has traveled to more states in his lifetime than a lot of people have, having visited 15 states with his family. The family shared a couple of their favorite memories of Roscoe: when “Roscoe got the "zoomies" and was covered in the red clay dirt while walking on a Gatlinburg Trail in Tennessee” and how “Roscoe would slide around ice chunks in the winter.”
Roscoe loved going on road trips with his family; whether it was in the car or the truck, it didn’t matter if it was just down the road to get one of his favorite treats, a McDonald's cheeseburger, or on a longer trip vacationing in the mountains or near the ocean, as long as he was with his family, he was happy.
Roscoe loved adventure and spending time outdoors. Some of Roscoe’s favorite activities were riding on four-wheelers and canoeing. Roscoe loved to play fetch with his ball and play with his favorite toys: his rubber pig and Frank the rhino. Roscoe also enjoyed "head scratches." Roscoe did not like baths or being in the rain. Roscoe did, however, love swimming and playing in any type of water he could: creeks, rivers, ponds, lakes, and even the ocean. Besides McDonald's cheeseburgers, Roscoe also enjoyed chicken treats and stick nasties as favorite snacks.
His family shared the one thing they loved most about Roscoe was his companionship and the unconditional love he gave.
Not only did Roscoe steal his family’s hearts, but he would wait for you to get up, and then he would steal your seat.
His family also referred to their sweet Roscoe as “Sika", "My", "Sir”, and “Bestest Buddy” and felt what Roscoe valued most was spending time with his family, especially with his human dad, Johnny, who he had a close, special bond with. Life with Roscoe was richer, happier, and certainly more blessed. Roscoe will be forever loved and missed; his sweet memory will last forever in his family’s hearts. In addition to Amanda and Johnny, mourning the loss of Roscoe are his human siblings, Kiley, Korbin, and Ralph, as well as his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever In Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home, located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Roscoe Magee.
