Roscoe Parks Obituary

Roscoe Parks, beloved German Shepherd-Husky mix and sweet boy of Nik and Jamie Parks, of Wabash, Indiana, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, December 22, 2025, at home. Roscoe was born in February of 2023. He officially became a part of the Parks family on April 27, 2025, after he was privately adopted in Big Rapids, Michigan. Jamie relayed how the previous owner unfortunately had to move without him.

Roscoe fit in perfectly with his new family. Roscoe brought so much happiness to his new family. Jamie described Roscoe’s personality as “the smartest, prettiest dog I’ve ever met. He was so well-behaved and sweet, but mischievous on purpose just because he thought it was funny.”

Jamie shared how she loved “how he would always stay in the kitchen with me while I cooked, just lying quietly next to me.”

Jamie shared their favorite memory of Roscoe: “Taking him for a walk down the Wabash River Walk and him putting his paws up to the window at the ice cream place to order a pup cup for the first time.”

Roscoe loved riding in the car with his mama, Jamie. She shared, “One time I picked him up from the neighbor’s yard where he was outside playing with them, and as soon as he saw my car, he ran to ‘his’ door to get in.”

Jamie also jokingly relayed, “His favorite toy was his brothers; he loved chewing on and chasing our yellow lab and Bernese mountain dog.” Jamie also shared another thing Roscoe enjoyed.

“Oddly enough, his favorite treat was watermelon, but it had to be in tiny pieces.”

Jamie shared Roscoe did not like baths but “would try his best to tolerate it; he loved being brushed on the porch.”

His family also referred to their sweet Roscoe as their "Roscoe Dog" and felt what Roscoe valued most was spending time with his family, especially with his human mama, Jamie, whom he adored; he would cry to anyone at home if she left for more than a few hours. Jamie shared, “He was very attached to me and was very vocal about who his favorite was.”  Jamie recalled, “He had a running ‘bit’ in which he pretended to hate his dad because they both wanted to cuddle with me. He would whine and bark at him and act like he didn't like Nik but would sometimes forget to play along and wind up in his face asking to be pet.”

Roscoe had such a big personality; he will be forever loved and missed, and his sweet memory will last forever in his family’s hearts. In addition to Jamie and Nik, mourning the loss of Roscoe are his fur siblings, Benny and Appa, and human friends, aka older brothers of Roscoe, John and Tourian.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever In Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home, located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Roscoe Parks.
