Sebastian Young Obituary

Sebastian Meadows Young, the handsome gray and white tabby boy of Dakota Young of Rushville, Indiana, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, October 20, 2025.

Sebastian was born on Wednesday, June 14th, 2017, on the family’s farm.

Dakota described Sebastian’s personality as “full of spunk and life.”

“Dakota recalled one of the things he loved about Sebastian was, ‘He ran to me every time he got in trouble. I know it’s small, but it’s something that I always will hold near and dear to me.’”

Dakota relayed how Sebastian strongly despised being bathed. "I was always the one that got stuck with his flea baths; it was to the point he could claw through a double pair of oven mitts, so we ended up gently laying him in the bathtub a handful of times before drying him off and running a flea comb through him.”

He also didn’t care for car rides; according to Dakota, he “didn’t like it one bit, meowed, and cried the whole time because, how I took it, he may have thought we were taking him away.”

According to Dakota, Sebastian enjoyed “any and all table scraps. He would always sit at the foot of the kitchen table and beg until we made him a little plate of his own.”

Dakota shared his favorite memory of Sebastian: “The first time I heard his purr when I picked him up, he was maybe 4 months old and just starting to get used to the idea of “love”. He was the runt of the litter, and I never thought I’d hear him purr; the first time he did still brings tears to my eyes.”

Dakota shared that what he felt Sebastian valued most in life was “his family, both feline and human, and his treats!”  Dakota continued, “Sebastian also had a weird and unusual infatuation with kneading someone’s hair. Never quite understood it!”

Sebastian felt a close bond to Dakota from the very first day they met each other. Dakota relayed, “There have been a few times he’s been closer to my grandma, other times my girlfriend. But Sebastian was more “everybody’s baby.”

Sebastian, who also went by the nicknames of “Sebby,” “Sarge,” and on occasion “Sebastard,” was a handsome, sweet soul. Dakota and his family loved Sebastian so very much; he will forever remain in their hearts.

In addition to Dakota, mourning the loss of Sebastian are his human family members, Jodan, Jim, Pam, Debbie, Jaima, Dakira, Jessica, David, Darren, Bonnie, Shay, and Dianna, and furry family members, his mom Luck and other furry friends Coco, Elvira, Little Lady, Holly, Stella, and Theodore.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever In Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home, located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Sebastian Meadows Young.
