Shadow Crabtree

Shadow Crabtree, one-year old beautiful Black German Shepherd girl of Madison Fulton and Cameron Crabtree of New Castle, Indiana, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Thursday, August 22, 2024 following a tragic accident. Shadow was the pup that Cameron had always longed for, his dream was to own a Black German Shepherd. Usually, German Shepherds have a single coat pattern-black and tan. However, in the case of fully black German Shepherds- the gene for completely black coats is carried by purebred German Shepherds. It is much rarer than the usual coloration, though, due to the gene being recessive. They can be highly sought after and expensive because this coloration is extremely rare. Cameron wanted this breed for so long and Madison scrimped and saved money until she saved enough to make the dream of owning this beautiful dog a reality. Shadow was born on Wednesday July 26, 2023. When Shadow became a member of the family and she was introduced to  her two human siblings, McKenzie and Grant, she immediately fell in love with them. She played with them very gently as if she understood they were little like she was. She knew she was their guardian and her job was to make sure they were safe and protected. Shadow also had two older dog siblings, Hunter and Marley who welcomed her to the family and showed her the ropes. Now with her dog siblings, Shadow wasn’t so gentle. Shadow found joy in being rambunctious by chasing and tormenting them both along with her cat siblings. But Marley was her best friend. You would often find Shadow snuggled up with Marley who she absolutely loved. Shadow also enjoyed going to her dog obedience training classes and knew when to behave like a good well behaved girl when she was required to. She liked taking walks with her family and stretching out and laying on top of the patio table. 

Madison and Cameron took all of the necessary precautions as responsible pet owners to protect all of their animals by having a fenced in yard but unfortunately as with some puppies, Shadow was a “digger” and escaped the safety of their yard and was tragically struck by a passing train. Madison and Cameron are absolutely devastated by the loss of their sweet pup. In her short time here on earth Shadow was loved beyond measure. She will be missed immensely but her sweet spirit will remain in Madison and Cameron’s hearts forever. In addition Madison and Cameron, also mourning the loss of sweet Shadow are her human siblings, McKenzie and Grant and fur siblings; Hunter and her best buddy Marley.
