Shela White Obituary

Shela White, a gorgeous, black German Shepherd girl of Joe and Tanya White from Wilkinson, Indiana, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Friday, February 6, 2026.

Shela was born in Shelbyville, Indiana. Tanya described her personality as “active, strong, and vocal.”

Tanya shared her favorite memory of Shela: “Playing ball in the house with her. We would throw the ball up the stairs; she would drop it back down the stairs, over and over.”

What Tanya felt Shela valued most in life was “Tracking down chipmunks, birds, or rabbits in the yard.”

Shela absolutely was not a fan of being bathed or being groomed. Her favorite treats were bite-sized Milk-Bones. Tanya shared, “We would hide them around the house, and Shela and her sister would search for them.”

Tanya shared how Shela loved to play. “She loved to play with the plastic downspouts. She would check and see if any critters were in them first; if not, she would pick one end up and run around the yard, or her sis, Shea, would grab the other end, and tug-of-war was on.”

Shela loved going on car rides with her family. She didn’t care where they were going; as long as she was with her family on the go, she was happy.

Shela had a big heart and loved everyone in her family, but she had a special relationship with her human daddy, Joe.

Tanya shared that the one thing that she loved the most about Shela was the love she had for her human daddy, Joe. “She was Joe’s Velcro; wherever he was, Shela was by his side.”

Shela was a patient girl who kept a watchful eye over her human sibling, Tanya shared. “We have a special needs son, and she would lie next to him and allow him to do whatever. She was his buddy and protector.”

Shela was loved so very much, and she will be forever missed but never forgotten. Mourning the loss of Shela are Tanya, her human mama and her protector of storms; her beloved human daddy, Joe; her human sibling, Bradley, whom she lovingly watched over; Rusty, Bradley’s caregiver and Shela’s professional belly scratcher; and her littermate and fur sister, Shea, who is grieving her immensely.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever In Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home, located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Shela White.
