Sophie Kelley

Sophie Kelley of Connersville, Indiana, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge in the early morning hours on Sunday, July 14, 2024, after she succumbed to cancer. Sophie was born on Saturday, September 8, 2012, in LaGrange, Indiana. Sophie, a Chocolate Labrador-Coon Hound Mix, was rescued from a bad situation in the summer of 2014 by Jacqui and Christopher Kelley. Jacqui and Christopher were determined to turn a bad situation into a happy one by making Sophie a part of their family. Sophie had such a big personality. She would put a smile on anyone’s face with her sweet, goofy antics. Just like her Lab-Coon Hound Mix breed, Sophie had a very unique "bay-bark" that stood out from most other dogs. Sophie was described by her family as a “psycho” in the backyard. She would run around wildly. Sophie was an escape artist, seemingly able to fit into the tiniest of spaces that would miraculously disappear when trying to determine where or how in the world she was able to escape. She didn’t go far, though. Sophie loved her family. Christopher was her person, and she adored Jacqui. Sophie loved all of her fur siblings but was especially close to her cat fur sibling, Asher. Sophie would cuddle and play with Asher, and she considered Asher her very own baby. When Sophie was inside her home with her family, she became a different girl. She became calm, mellow, and gentle. Sophie had a big, loving heart and brought happiness and joy to the Kelley family for nearly 12 years. Sophie will be missed, but she will be lovingly remembered and forever remain in their hearts. In addition to Jacqui and Chris, mourning the loss of Sophie are her dog siblings, Dazha and Harley, and her cat siblings, Asher, Jeffre, CC, and Tyson. Sophie is preceded in death by her dog-fur sibling, Eboni. Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever In Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home, located in Shirley, Indiana.
