Spazz Massie, age 18 years, of Greenfield, Indiana, the handsome orange and white fur baby of Lonna Massie, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Sunday, February 2, 2025. Spazz was born in September of 2007 in a garage by a stray cat. The garage the stray cat had kittens in was a friend of Lonna’s mom. Around Halloween in October of 2007, at the age of four weeks, Spazz found a home with Lonna and her family. Lonna shared a funny memory of Spazz when he first arrived at his new home. “When he was a kitten, I didn't know he was following me. When I first got him, he was so small I didn't think he jumped off the couch and then noticed he wasn't there.” She explained that Spazz had jumped into her refrigerator when she briefly opened it to get something out. A few seconds later she opened it again to put the item back, and that is when she realized that is where little Spazz had ventured off to when he suddenly darted out.
When the day came that Lonna moved out of her childhood home and moved to her own home to start her own family, Spazz was right there beside her.
According to Lonna, Spazz absolutely did not like to be bathed. He would, however, lie under the bathroom sink spout and let the water run off of him and would sleep in the sink. Also, Spazz did not like car rides. If he had to go on a car trip, he would either be on Lonna’s lap or he would be wrapped around her neck, crying the entire time.
When Spazz was a bit younger, his favorite activities were bouncing off the walls and playing, but as he grew older, he began to mellow out and pretty much enjoyed calmly hanging out and being held by Lonna. Spazz enjoyed food; he especially loved canned food with the extra sauce in it.
Lonna recalled one of her favorite memories of her time with Spazz was watching the love that Spazz had for her children as they cuddled together, just as he did with her when she was a child.
What Spazz, who was also known as “Spazzy” and “Spazztic,” loved the most in his life was Lonna. His favorite place to sleep was either curled up on Lonna’s chest or on her head. He felt safe, comfortable, and loved. And he was absolutely loved for 18 years.
In addition to Lonna, Spazz will be sadly missed by his human siblings, Hayson and Sylas, and his dog sibling, Sophie. Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever in Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home, located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Spazz Massie.
