Tanner Barber Obituary

Tanner Barber, the handsome, sweet, yellow Labrador Retriever boy of the Barber family, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in Knightstown, Indiana.

Tanner resided in Pendleton, Indiana with his family. He found his forever home and became a part of the Barber family after he was adopted in 2016 in Moline, Illinois.

Tanner was a gentle soul. His family described Tanner’s personality as “protective, attentive, and loving.”

The family felt what Tanner loved in life was "his piggy, family, and the great outdoors.”

The family shared one of their favorite memories of their sweet Tanner: “He was always very protective of his bed and his 'ride.'" "He would bark if you came close to him but would walk right by you. He would jump into any car with a door open to get a ride. He would even pick his favorite golf cart for the day.”

Tanner loved spending time outdoors playing, but he was not a fan of bathtime if it was ever necessary after a long, hard day of playing. His favorite toys were his squeaky pigs and balls.

Tanner’s favorite treats were Pup-Peroni Stix Dog Treats and according to the family “anything he could get from you. Just as long as you shared.”

What they loved about Tanner was how “Tanner loved to play catch and ride in any vehicle.”

They recalled about Tanner: “He loved to be tucked in. He would always come up to Michelle and tell her it was time to go to bed.” and “Tanner loved the campground. He really enjoyed it when it was closed and he had full range. He could chase squirrels and ride on golf carts.”

Tanner was also lovingly known as “Tan, Tan," “Buttercup,” and “Puppy” by his family. He loved spending time with his entire family. He was Chris’s shadow, but as he aged, he grew closer to Michelle. Tanner brought so much happiness to the Barber home, and the family is heartbroken by the loss of their beloved Tanner. His gentle and sweet personality will forever be missed but never forgotten.

Mourning the loss of Tanner are his human parents, Michelle and Chris, and human siblings Nicholas and Michael. Tanner will also be missed by his Nana, who looked after him when the family was away, and close friend Marcia, who also loved to look after him as well.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever In Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home, located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Tanner Barber.
