Toby Bowen

Toby Bowen, the handsome 13-year-old Maine Coon mixed boy of Laura and Randy Bowen of Greenfield, Indiana, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Friday, October 31, 2025. 

Toby was rescued in 2012 when he was only 3 weeks old. His mom was a barn cat who abandoned her litter. 

Laura described Toby’s personality as “very friendly and very spoiled,” continuing, “He also had anxiety whenever his humans went away on trips; it would make him sad.”

The one thing the family loved the most about Toby was his paws— “they were so fluffy, cute, and soft.” Laura shared, “We called them his Grinch fingers.” The family also loved that Toby was a very sweet boy.

“Laura relayed how Toby did not like being groomed, and he also didn’t care for car rides.

Laura shared that “Toby’s favorite toy was his handmade gingerbread boy that we called “Ging”.”

According to Laura, one of their favorite memories of Toby was "when he was a kitten, we put him in a boot and took a Christmas picture.” Laura shared, “He was also a very playful baby.”

“Laura relayed what she felt Toby valued the most in life was ‘his daddy, Randy, who he felt the closest bond with.’, "They were best friends.’”

“Laura shared that Toby went by the nickname of “Kitten Nugget” “because he was so tiny when we rescued him.”

Toby will be sadly missed by his human parents, Laura and Randy. Also mourning the loss of Toby are his human sisters, Kelsey and Emma, and his human nephew, Noah, as well as his fur siblings, 1-year-old tabby cat Daisy and 3-month-old long-haired orange tabby cat Pumpkin, whom Toby showed the ropes to and created a pecking order for.

 The entire family will miss him very much. 

Toby is preceded across the Rainbow Bridge by his cat sister, a sassy Tortie named Cookie; they were besties.
