Whiskers Stamper Obituary

Whiskers Stamper of New Castle, Indiana, the handsome, sweet boy of Joshua Stamper, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Thursday, July 3, 2025.

Whiskers was born in the summer of 2013 in New Castle, Indiana. Joshua adopted him from a friend of the family, and from that day they were inseparable.

What Joshua loved the most about Whiskers was that “Whiskers was always planning world domination.”

When asked if there were any favorite memories of Whiskers that came to mind, Joshua relayed, “Walking into my room and him greeting me, or sitting in my gaming chair and he'd sleep at the head of the chair no matter what.”

Whiskers was a reserved boy and saved his love for only certain people. Joshua described Whiskers as “always angry; he didn't like many people. There were times when he was chill and wanted love.” continuing, “No one could tell him what to do; everyone feared him because he was mean.” To his loved ones he could be sweet at times. Joshua relayed, ”We didn't mind him being mean because he was a grumpy old man; he was more so reserved and calm and quiet but still had his sweet moments.”

Joshua shared that “Whiskers absolutely hated bath time; it was a struggle and a half for that. He always loved being brushed, though.”

Joshua relayed that Whiskers’s favorite treats he liked to indulge in any time he could were tuna and milk, stating, “He went crazy for them.”

Joshua also shared that Whiskers’s favorite thing was his cat tree. What Joshua felt Whiskers valued the most in life was his “children.” Whiskers was not a fan of car rides; he was a “homebody cat.”

Whiskers was also not a fan of wearing his Christmas sweater. One Christmas Joshua put a Christmas sweater on him, and he climbed up on his cat tree and slipped out of it. Joshua recalled, “He didn't like it.”

Whiskers, who was also lovingly referred to by his many nicknames of “Whisky,” “Mr. Phat Head,” “Mr. Muffin Man,” “Mr. Sabertooth Tiger,” and “Grumpy Old Man,” loved Joshua so much; he was his person. Whiskers always followed Joshua and kept a watchful eye on him.

Joshua is heartbroken by the loss of Whiskers. His memory will forever remain in his heart. Also mourning the loss of Whiskers are his human grandmother, Jennifer Robeton, and close friends Cole Walker and Gavin Moore. Whiskers is preceded in death by his human brother, Kodie Bear.
